So close, I can feel her...

Mason's magic carpet ride collaboration with Marc Andreini...can't wait!!!

"The Search for The Big Idea:

To solve a specific communications problem
with words and images that catch people's eyes,
penetrate their minds, warm their hearts,
and cause them to act. The ethos of my life
has been the most passionate belief
that creativity can solve almost any problem.
The Big Idea, the defeat of habit by originality,
overcomes everything."

Is Summer half full, or half empty? I'm confused...

I'm just beginning to feel summer so I think it's just filling up...pics via reference library via old chum. And by the way, Canada is calling which does feel strangely opposite to summer???

More NEW RESTLESS ENERGY!!! Ms. Gordon...new LA BLONDE / always PUNK ROCK.

This pic defines new beginnings...MONDAY, BRING IT ON!!! And did I mention, the best coffee in Venice was free this morning. I accidentally put my hat on the bed before I left the house, and I don't care. We're headed in the right direction...good, positive, new energy!!!

Stray Socks, Old Soul & New Energy. Feels almost like a dream.

So last week was a strange one...I haven't been able to put my finger on it, but something clearly wasn't right in the world. And the happenings in Norway put a very strong punctuation on the dark feelings swirling around us when I woke up on Saturday morning. It's hard to comprehend how horrific these events were, nor do I enjoy trying. Not to mention, Ms. Winehouse's untimely death and the fact that we had an unexpected house guest for 48 hours which ended with a one-way trip to the animal shelter for our little friend "Stray Socks". A very good deed, but a heart wrenching ending. But through all of this, something amazing happened as well! Our favorite restaurant, AXE, reopened, and we rode our bikes to dinner with our best friends for the first serving on Friday night! The best part is that Joanna didn't change a thing and that's just how we like it - same environment, same friends and same incredible food (with a couple great additions). It was quite a moment when Joanna emerged from the kitchen to a room full of admiring friends and foodies exuberant with hand clapping, hugs and kisses - I became quite proud of our neighborhood and nostalgic for all the reasons we love coming here. With our daughter, AXE has truly been our Sunday morning ritual..she has grown up here. And although I think Costa might have made an appearance just before the unfortunate fire that closed it down, we can now return with the entire family for all of our Sunday's to come! Thanks so much Joanna and Welcome back. Some much needed old soul has returned to the new neighborhood, and the timing couldn't be better!!!

And to our little friend, "Stray Socks", the pipes, the pipes are calling.
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side. The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying. It's you, it's you must go and we must bide.

A stolen moment.

Great creativity can't be calculated, it must be spontaneous!

That said, serenity is impossible to come by these days, so everything great must be spontaneous.

The Missing Link...(or I've been missing)

So much stuff happening at the moment that Bonfirebeachkids has been neglected. We have some new projects commencing, and others hitting their summer stride. (Remember when summer meant just hanging at the beach all day) Not to mention, the waves have been unreal!!! In the meantime, one of our designers turned me onto Aaron Mason's blog (apparently one of many), and it's been inspiring me over the last few days.

Cool to see pics of Kyle's LITTLE WINGS Breathe owl Breathe tour...

A fine summer stage...

And Costa's fine fiberglass tepee on Saturday, a little unrelated, but I'm all over the place these days...at at least we still find time to hang on the beach every now and then.

Single Green Ping Pong Table

A really handsome, sturdy and confident Ping Pong table is looking for a consistent and loving relationship in a new home. This particular table is a very dapper green, with a very stout net, four competition wood paddles and perfectly round balls to play with. Ping Pong is a global sport that is admired by royalty and common folk alike, and can be played in white sports shoes or even bare foot. Working up a sweat while playing is encouraged. This particular table is currently residing in our garage (Thatcher Ave Center Court, Venice Beach) under a well lit chandelier. Anyone who wants to come and pick it up can have it for free! We will (of course) assume you will give it lots of attention and a long life of enduring love. A competitive spirit is necessary! First come, first served (literally, we're playing a game before you take it!)...

Intellectual Pornography

Back home to a serious stack of mail and buried deep within was the latest censored Taschen Catalog. After digging through the various exaggerated body parts with smiling faces over the privates, the following two images struck me as brilliant. John Lennon (of course) By Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs and this image from Ideological dreams, Frédéric Chaubin's stunning photographs of late-era Soviet architecture. The image description reads A cross between architecture and sculpture, the monument to the revival of Armenia by architect R. Israelyan. Aparan, 1979.
