I was in Hangzhou, China last week and the Handicraft (pronounced quickly with a poor Chinese accent) was never open. Or at least I was never there when it was open (4 times)...so the Handicraft I was inspired by was actually the very graphic and colorful hand-sprayed safety stencils on (and around) the building I was working in...

Dalton Ghetti - Pencil Lead Sculptures

Was once on exhibit here. Via Lauren Alexandra Wang's blog. Who was passed to me by Brian Awitan.
Brazilian born, Connecticut based, Dalton Ghetti carefully crafts the tips of pencils into amazing micro sculptures. These miniature masterpieces are a side project for the professional carpenter, who has been perfecting this art for the last 25 years. Dalton uses a razor blade, sewing needle, a sculpting knife, a steady hand and lots of patience to meticulously carve the graphite which can take anywhere between a few months to a few years. Over time he has broken many works in progress and keeps them in what he calls the cemetery collection. One of the most fascinating things about these tiny works of art is that he has never sold them, only given away to friends as gifts. This text and more pencil sculptures here.

Octopus's Garden

Our winning Entry - Zuma Beach Ditch Day 8.27.10
"'Octopus's Garden' is Ringo's song. It's only the second song Ringo has ever written, mind you, and it's lovely." He added that the song gets very deep into your consciousness "because it's so peaceful. I suppose Ringo is writing cosmic songs these days without even realising it."
